What does it really mean to be a man? It depends on who you ask. Some will tell you manhood is about being tough and protective, keeping everything together, or always knowing what to do. Others will say it’s about collecting achievements and accolades. No matter the advice, one thing is constant: you live in a world that tells you all the ways you don’t measure up.
But that’s not how God sees you. He created you with the ability and responsibility to reflect his character in the world around you. You have a purpose, and it’s something you can discover and live out—whether things are easy or challenging, big or small.
Are you doing enough? Are you measuring up? Do you matter? Those questions can only be answered by going straight to the source—the Word of the one who created you. Your identity as a man starts with who God says you are.
Reflect: Where do you feel uncertain about what it means to be a man? What's at stake if you try to measure up to the wrong standards?
Pray: God, help me see myself the way you see me. Remind me that my life has purpose and give me the courage to step into the life you made me for. Amen.
