There is a Biblical call for the church to “welcome the stranger” and “practice hospitality to the foreigners among you.” In recent months, violence has forced many families and individuals to flee Afghanistan, many of whom are being resettled in the US in the Philadelphia region. Together, we will meet to both learn what scripture has to say about practicing hospitality and learn about the global refugee crisis. We also will have the opportunity to speak with at least one refugee about his life experiences and how to best prepare to welcome a refugee. Finally, we will prayerfully consider co-sponsoring a refugee family in collaboration with Bethany Christian Services. The Group is meeting online, but for those who are local, some of the group will also be gathering together in Harleysville.
